Did Modern Subaru of Boone go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
The Subaru Love Promise® is our vision to show love and respect to all people at every interaction with Subaru. Subaru and our retailers believe every day gives us an opportunity to positively impact the world around us – by how we support each other, our customers, and our community. Together, we are committed to making the world a better place.
The Love Promise is what makes Subaru More Than a Car Company® and a Subaru retailer More Than a Car Dealer®. It sets a standard that we are committed to living every day.
Providing comfort, hope, and confidence to children in urgent need
Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.
Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. We're grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well.
Subaru and Modern Subaru of Boone believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Imagine not having a coat when a blizzard is on the way. For many people, this is the reality. Modern Subaru of Boone partnered with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. On January 20, 2026, Modern Subaru of Boone donated 300 Coats to Partnership of Ashe. It couldn't have come at a better time with forecasters calling for Winter Storm Fern to arrive that weekend. Partnership of Ashe held a winter coat giveaway on January 22nd and 23rd, allowing families to get new coats for their children as part of their storm preparation. At Partnership of Ashe, we are so grateful for this gift that helped so many in our community. As one mother said, "I am incredibly thankful for your thoughtful donation of winter coats. My four-year-old daughter truly needed a warm jacket for these cold mountain winters, and without your generosity, it wouldn't have been possible. Thank you so much." Another mother commented, "Thank you so much for the winter coat. In a one-income household, it can be challenging to provide all the necessities. It's nice to see a business give back to the community, especially taking care of the kids." Thank you, Modern Subaru and Operation Warm, for helping us take care of kids!

Boone United Methodist Church held the 39th Annual Fall Bazaar this year in September. This event is so popular with residents from across the High Country and provides numerous opportunities to assist families and individuals in need. This year, we raised over $50,000, which will go to support local missions, building improvements, hurricane relief, afterschool ministry for children and various other needs. Modern Subaru has faithfully donated gift cards for oil changes for several years. Visitors to the Bazaar are invited to bid on the gift cards and proceeds are added to the Bazaar total. Support from the community makes a huge difference in our efforts to give back to those in need.

For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Boone, this is a harsh reality. When the Hunger and Health Coalition started 43 years ago, we were just a closet in a church started by community members who cared for their neighbors. We started as a grassroots effort built by the community, for the community. Each year that the Hunger and Health Coalition operates, we implement innovative ways to provide more for our community. We've grown to add programs such as a free pharmacy, mobile delivery, an emphasis on healthy foods, and access to free nutrition counseling. On average, it costs HHC $20,000 a month to purchase produce, $37,000 for pantry non-perishable items, and upwards of $4,500 for medications. We couldn't serve the High Country without local support from our community. Since 2018, Modern Subaru of Boone has given over $100K to the Hunger and Health Coalition and its mission. It's heartwarming to us that Modern Subaru cares so deeply for their neighbors to give to our organization in this way. Thank you Modern Subaru!

Driving Change: How Subaru Fueled Forever Homes This October October brought crisp air, colorful leaves, and one heartwarming truth: Subaru loves pets. Thanks to the amazing support of Modern Subaru of Boone, October was a pawsome month for us at Watauga Humane Society. Their generosity and partnership helped 120 cats and 49 dogs zoom into forever homes. But the real icing on this adoption cake? Several of our long-time residents finally found their happily ever afters. Take Duke Bruno, for instance. This gentleman strolled into our lives in September 2023, clocking 396 days of shelter fame. After a few false starts, he finally found his perfect match and strutted out of here like the king he is. (Yes, we might’ve shed a tear or two.) Then there’s Rooster, the daredevil pup who literally leapt into our arms—straight off a second-story building! He was a one-of-a-kind case: heartworm-positive and brimming with energy, making the “stay calm” rule a tough sell. After 201 days with us, he found a home where he could jump for joy, all while finishing his treatment with a loving family by his side. None of this would’ve been possible without Subaru’s dedication to pets and the local community. Modern Subaru of Boone didn’t just help us; they became true advocates for these animals, giving 169 tails the happy endings they deserved. So here’s to the cars that drive love and the people behind them who make it all happen. Thank you, Subaru, for steering us toward such an incredible outcome!

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous grant I received from Modern Subaru to support my classroom. As an educator in Ashe County, North Carolina, I have dedicated many years to teaching in my hometown. The joy and fulfillment that come from preparing our students for their future have always made the challenges of this profession worthwhile. As a teacher in a small rural community, I often find myself investing personal resources to ensure that my students have the necessary supplies. The financial strain of living on a 10-month salary while providing for my classroom needs has been particularly challenging in recent years due to the impacts of COVID-19, inflation, and limited school budgets. This year, I transitioned from teaching 4th grade to serving as a Special Education Resource teacher. This shift has been akin to starting anew, as the diverse needs within my resource room require a wide range of manipulatives and literacy tools for multiple grade levels. The funding provided by Subaru will significantly enhance my ability to create an inclusive learning environment that accommodates students of varying sizes and abilities across five different grade levels. I am truly grateful for Subaru's commitment to investing in the education of our children, who are undoubtedly our most precious resource. Your support comes at a crucial time, and it will have a lasting impact on my students’ educational experiences. Thank you once again for your generosity and for recognizing the importance of supporting educators and their classrooms.

On Thursday, June 6th, 2024, the LLS North Carolina-Virginia Region had the opportunity of helping Modern Subaru of Boone deliver 80 blankets to Ashe Oncology and Hematology in Jefferson as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program. The blankets were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by customers in the Boone community and staff of Modern Subaru of Boone. These gifts were warmly received by the staff and patients, with staff showing their excitement as they know how much these gifts of love and support are appreciated. It was a wonderful day and heartfelt thanks to Modern Subaru of Boone for joining the LLS mission to create a world without blood cancer.

The Hunger and Health Coalition has been an organization for the past 40 years but the past two years have been some of the most difficult in the organization. Our goal is to provide healthy foods that will make people feel better. We provide hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce each year. On average we distribute about 25,000 pounds per month. This comes with a heavy price tag. Because of COVID, inflation and supply chain issues we are spending a record number of our funds on produce. Not to mention the increasing number of clients we are seeing per month. On average we are seeing about 1,000 clients, but that does not include everyone in their household. We spend roughly $20,000 on produce just per month. At the end of the year that is a quarter of a million dollars. To say that this is crippling, would be an understatement. We have remained not only steadfast in our mission to provide healthy foods, but resilient. We will not let the high prices deter us from continuing to spend funds on what our community needs most. It is because of our community that we are remaining true to our mission. Last week Modern Subaru of Boone donated over $20,000 for their Subaru Share the Love event. Tears filled our eyes as they showed us the check, we knew we would not have to worry for at least one more month. We are so grateful for the compassion of our community and all the many ways they help to keep our mission alive. Our goal is to never make our community more sick, we want to uplift them and help to heal their bodies. That starts with a a healthy meal filled with robust produce. Thank you for helping us to feed every one who comes to our doors for help.

Partnership of Ashe in collaboration with Modern Subaru of Boone and Operation Warm recently held a children's coat drive for children in Ashe County. These high-quality coats are a much-needed clothing staple for children during the cold winter months in the high country of Ashe County. Coats were provided to local early childcare centers to be distributed to children in need of a warm coat for this winter. Ashe County school counselors met with Partnership staff to learn about the program and took coats to distribute to needy children in the county Pre K and early elementary classrooms. Families served by Partnership of Ashe programs were contacted to come pick out a coat of their choice. The coat drive was made available to families with young children from the community, parents came by, and the children were able to choose a coat of their own. Children were excited to pick and put on their coat of choice. The Partnership of Ashe and the families served greatly appreciate this opportunity. A BIG thanks to Modern Subaru sharing their warm hearts by keeping our children warm this winter.

October was a month filled with waggin' tails and biscuit making! Thanks to Modern Subaru of Boone, 132 animals found loving homes during the Subaru Loves Pets adoption event. Their donation allowed the Watauga Humane Society to reduce adoption fees to $50 for the entire month, including a fee-waived weekend special! This nationwide event donates over 45 million dollars to local and national organizations to support the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of more than 350,000 animals. We are grateful to be a part of this event annually. In addition to the donations helping offset adoption costs, 7 of our longest staying, four-legged pups were gifted with special Subaru play packs from Modern Subaru of Boone. One special pup, Squeaky, spent 179 days in our care waiting for his adoption day. He was anxious, high energy, and had difficulty keeping up his weight. Thanks to this sponsored adoption month, Squeaky finally had freedom ride home! He now enjoys regular play dates at his local dog park and even has his own dedicated bedroom space to help with his anxiety. He was able to enjoy Halloween in his new bumblebee costume and now can often be found snuggling his person on the couch.

Dear Modern Subaru of Boone: The following is transcribed from a note written by Ashe Memorial Hospital patient, LeAnn Wright: Thank you so much for the soft, cozy, warm blanket you provided for chemo patients with leukemia and lymphoma. I bring my blanket with me to treatments to keep me warm and comfortable! It is like a warm, fuzzy, hug!

Thank you, Modern Subaru of Boone, for supporting our Banner Elk Elementary School teachers. This year the funding your organization has provided will support our Pre-K to 3rd grade teachers. We have two new teachers who are creating their classrooms and finding ways to make learning more exciting and engaging. Your support will help them achieve their goals. As an A+ school, teachers are always trying to find new opportunities for art integration in the classroom. This funding will help provide materials for these activities. Partners like you are helping our teachers dream big and bring the magic to learning!

When we give our clients a box of fresh produce, we give them a box of opportunities. We give them a chance to lead their own health journey with dignity and respect. We give them one less thing to worry about, food on the table, medicine in their medicine cabinets. They have the chance to focus on rent, utilities or their car payment. They have a chance to thrive. Thanks to Modern Subaru of Boone, our neighbors have so many more opportunities and with opportunities, come possibilities. Modern Subaru of Boone has directly impacted our mission here at the Hunger and Health Coalition. Their support over the years has been instrumental to our holistic approach to our neighbors health and wellness. We see food as medicine. Ensuring our clients have access to a robust assortment of fresh foods and healthy non perishable items will not only help them to fight diet linked diseases, but help them to feel better. This would not be possible without the support of our community and organizations such as Modern Subaru of Boone. We are so grateful for not only their kindness, but their trust in our mission to take care of our neighbors.

For the third time since 2020, Modern Automotive was a key sponsor of Playhouse BuildFest. Held on Saturday, April 1st at Watauga High School, BuildFest is a free community event featuring over 70 hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities for kids aged 2-12, plus a giant Cardboard City, Tiny Town, Family Resource Village, Touch a Truck, and two Amazing Science Shows. The 2023 BuildFest was the biggest ever with over 175 volunteers, 29 partner organizations, and 1,500 attendees. The 8th BuildFest drew raves from parents and volunteers alike: “That was one of the coolest kid events we've ever been to! We can't wait until the next one. Our little boy loved cardboard city, cars on the race track, angry birds catapult, and the physics show. He didn't want to leave. Even with his autistic set backs the staff was so incredibly accommodating.” –parent “Loved all the stations where the kids could try new things. Kids learned how to do a lot of different things they had never done before.” –parent “It was all amazing! Such a well executed event!” –parent “The kids and parents were so engaged and enthusiastic about the entire event. They expressed their gratitude to the volunteers, and it was such a refreshing experience!” –volunteer “Seeing the children's faces when they engaged with our activity was magical.” –volunteer Modern Automotive was a “Road” sponsor of BuildFest and also provided cardboard boxes from the service department for the ever popular “Cardboard City” at BuildFest. BuildFest is organized by The Children’s Playhouse (goplayhouse.org), a nonprofit and the High Country’s only children’s museum. The Children’s Playhouse is open year round and offers stimulating arts and science-based programs, enticing play areas and exhibits, and informative parenting resources. Founded in 2002, The Playhouse’s mission is to provide children from birth to age eight with enriching, educational play experiences while at the same time offering their parents and caregivers friendly support in the important job of raising children.

Subaru Loves to Help® - and we love it when they help the homeless families and individuals that we serve. Most people might not realize just how important socks are. To most of us, we take them for granted, just like choosing what we get to eat each day, we open our drawer and pull out what socks we want to wear each day. Well, people experiencing homelessness aren't so lucky. It really hits home when a single mom and her children are in search of shelter and they only have one pair of socks each...if they're lucky. Here at Hospitality House of Northwest N.C. our core values include Compassion for all; Dignity in action and example; Respect for every individual's path, situation, and place in life. Partnering with Subaru aligns with those values. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and respect - and sometimes that starts with a new pair of socks. Thank you Subaru for sharing your love (and socks) with us. We appreciate you.

Thanks to Subaru of Boone, patients at the Seby B. Jones Regional Cancer Center in Boone, NC will have comforting blankets to help them through their treatments. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of Modern Subaru of Boone.

What a fabulous experience working with one of the best salespeople we have ever worked with -- Lacy Holder. Lacy knows her products for sale inside and out. Every question posed was knowledgeably answered. We had a tough time deciding between the Forester and the Outback, went back and forth with our decision more than once, and Lacy was THE most patient person ever. What made our decision easier? She actually let me sit in her own Outback to show me just how easy the computer screen was to navigate. Easy peazy. That sealed the deal for me. Both my husband and I love our choice of the 2022 Outback Limited that literally arrived on the truck 15 minutes before my second appointment to decide between the two models, I sat in it, and done deal-the Outback! In and out. 15 minutes with Lacy to sign paperwork, Tony in the warranty department was a breezy 30 minutes, who was super nice and efficient as well, and Lacy finished up with a 30 minute tutorial of how the car operated. Perfection all around. Well done, Modern Subaru, Lacy, Tony, and Brian in Service (for ordering me snow tires)! THANK YOU!!

Subaru of Boone partners with the American Red Cross three to four times a year, providing a great place to give blood. The blood drive is open to all employees, family, friends and community. Each pint of blood can help up to three patients! Thank you Subaru of Boone for the continued partnership over the years! We also want to thank all of those who have given blood at Subaru of Boone, on behalf of the patients who have been supported by blood donations! Visit RedCrossBlood.org to make an appointment for an upcoming blood drive. Thank you!

Through our partnership with Modern Subaru of Boone, we hosted a month-long adoption event with reduced adoption fees for the entirety of October. Sheila and her team at Modern Subaru brought the cutest Subaru toys for us to share with our newest adopters, including a special pup named Rex. Rex originally began his journey with us in 2020, and through a series of unfortunate events, Rex found himself in and out of our care for the next two years. He spent a total of 337 days living in the shelter environment, and at just 4.5 years old, that means he has spent 20% of his life trying to find the right home. Life is full of ups and downs, curveballs, and changes – all of which Rex took in stride. He continued to win over volunteers and visitors, even becoming one of our best Virtual Foster pups for field trips into the community. On October 29th, the last day of our adoption special, Rex was adopted by one of his regular visitors. Tears of joy were shed as we said a goodbye to our favorite, 77lbs, silly pup. By the end of this month-long event, Watauga Humane Society and Modern Subaru of Boone helped 100 pets find their forever homes!

This was my first ever car buying experience and the staff at Modern Subaru truly made it extraordinary. They were all very friendly and helpful. My salesperson, Lacy, made the car buying process very easy and answered any and all questions I had. She helped me pick the perfect car for me and went above and beyond in showing me exactly how every feature works. I would not have changed anything about my experience with them. I had a wonderful experience with Modern Subaru and will definitely be recommending them to all my friends and family looking for a car. I will particularly be recommending Lacy as she did an incredible job and I will definitely be buying a car from her in the future!

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of Modern Subaru of Boone. For years you all have presented a generous check to us that has impacted our mission in more ways than one. For us, a dollar can go a very long way. Time and time again we see countless clients walk up to our door seeking help. Wether it be with food, medications or firewood, we never turn anyone away. We work every day to ensure everyone in Watauga County has a chance to thrive and live their own healthy life style. None of this is possible without our community. Including you. The support of our community is the reason we are able to continue opening our doors. It is the reason we are able to keep fresh produce on our shelves and insulin in our pharmacy. It is the reason wood remains in stock and that snack bags are able to be delivered to children. Our community is vital to us. Thank you so much for aiding our mission in feeding the High Country. We are SO thankful for you!

My First grade class is so lucky to have Modern Subaru in our community. Modern Subaru donated money so we could get supplies and books for our first grade classroom. The children got new dry erase markers and erasers for daily work. They picked out a science kit to teach about ramps, gravity, friction and how things move. The students love it! They picked out many new books for the class. It is so important for each child to be able to take books home for practice. Thank you Modern Subaru!!

Thanks to support from Subaru, Watauga Humane Society was able to reduce adoption fees for the month of October and we found fur-ever homes for more than 120 animals! Several of these were animals that can be harder to place - older animals and those with some health concerns that need special care. We are so grateful to Subaru and to our community for your support!
Kristan C.
Thank you to the Subaru Loves Pets Make a Dog's Day support! In October the Watauga Humane Society found more than 100 animals forever homes! This included several animals that had been seized by animal control but are now in loving homes. It also included several older animals, like Ladybug! This 9-year old stray is cute as a bug and very sweet and in October, she found a forever home. The financial support we receive from Subaru helps WHS provide love and care to so many animals all year long. Thank you.
Kristan C.
When Watauga Humane Society applied for an ASPCA Subaru Loves Pets grant for a virtual adoption event, we simply hoped to hang a poster at Modern Subaru and maybe have them repost our social media posts. What actually happened was we received the grant and the folks at Modern Subaru pulled out all the stops to make this a successful event. They made a video, designed ads / posters, and initiated the social media "blitz" for the event! Their hands-on approach to the event saved WHS staff and volunteers hours of work. This experience has made it clear that the Subaru commitment to pets goes well beyond simply providing funds. The folks we have worked with (Jody, Joshua, Andy) are truly committed to helping their communities - especially the animals in our community!

I am not new to the Subaru ownership legacy. My first Subaru I bought new was an 83 Loyale wagon with a unique digital dash. .My next ownership was a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek xv Hybrid that .I had for four years. My next and present Subaru is now a 2021 Crosstrek Sport.. This one is a monumental departure from the previous hybrid I owned both in power and in technology. We love it .for its versatility , power , and reliability as proven to us by our previous ones. The vehicle is important but the dealership in which it is purchased, in my opinion, is also critical. Modern in Boone has won my respect and trust on more than one occasion in sales and service!

Modern Subaru of Boone graciously donated numerous books related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for our K-8 teachers and Media Center. These books have provided information for both our students and teachers to discover hands-on learning of topics related to our curriculum that engage students in their learning. We thank Modern of Boone for selecting Hardin Park being committed to education in our community!

Modern Subaru of Boone, NC stands behind its employees and its community. One of its top selling sales people, Adriane Lewis, is a 6 year lymphoma survivor, and she believes that her diagnosis and subsequent life changing experience ultimately put her on the path to her job with Modern. Adriane, joined by Modern's Bryan Johnson, accompanied The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society staff on a delivery of blankets and care cards filled out by Subaru customers with hopeful and inspiring words to patients at the Seby B. Jones Cancer Center, just minutes from the retailer. There the Executive Director, having made prior arrangements for them to hand deliver the beautiful blankets to patients during their chemotherapy time, happily welcomed the group laden with gifts. Actually hand delivering the blanket to a patient is the best possible scenario (though unfortunately not all hospitals can permit it due to privacy laws). It gave Adriane and Bryan the opportunity to impart encouraging and hopeful words which were very meaningful as Adriane had been in their shoes not that long ago. She would say as she gifted a blanket, "I know exactly what you're going through (and show her port scar), and I'm here to tell you, you can do this."
Cathy B.
Adriane Lewis may be the top Sales Consultant for Modern Subaru in Boone, NC for the past three years, but this might not be the accomplishment she is most proud of. The day before her 29th birthday, Adriane was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and began a grueling six months of chemo. No one expects cancer in his or her life, and Adriane found a strength she did not know she possessed as she slipped in and out of consciousness, fighting the harsh side effects of the medication while knowing fully well that this very aggressive therapy was her only hope. No surprise to anyone that knows her, Adriane survived, and today is five years cancer-free. During her darkest hours, she may have lost a boyfriend, a home and a job, but nothing was going to stop Adriane from recouping her life. While working at a local Starbucks, Adriane met the GM of Modern Subaru who could see her drive and potential and ultimately offered her a job at the dealership. She loves this job as well as her co-workers and says, “My managers are the best of men who believe in me and respect me. I feel very blessed.” LLS was thrilled that Adriane offered to be a part of the Subaru Love Promise blanket delivery campaign to the Seby B. Jones Cancer Center this summer where she proudly introduced herself as a survivor to cancer patients, telling them that they needed to continue their fight. She was inspiring, and a picture perfect example of what is possible within all of us. Thank you, Adriane.

Modern Subaru sponsored the Art in the Park festival on June 13 in nearby Blowing Rock. A crowd of thousands attended the popular arts festival and loved the various artists' works. As part of its partnership with the fair, Modern Subaru gave away $100 of free art from the featured clay artist, Courtney Tomchik to a lucky local winner.
