Welcome the New 2018 Subaru Outback to Boone, North Carolina

There's plenty of adventure and fun to be had in Boone, NC and the surrounding areas within the Blue Ridge Mountains, and now there's a great new vehicle that's perfect for an outdoorsy lifestyle. Of course we're talking about the new 2018 Subaru Outback, the latest in this popular line of adventure-ready wagons and crossovers. If you're the kind of Lenoir, Banner Elk, West Jefferson, Elizabethton or North Wilkesboro driver who requires a blend of reasonable efficiency with plenty of utility, AWD capabilities and more, then come on over today for a test drive in the new 2018 Outback.

See What's New in the 2018 Subaru Outback

Barring a complete redesign, there's quite a bit new to the mix in the 2018 Subaru Outback. Design-wise, new grille and front and rear fascias have been tweaked for a modern and aggressive look, while the headlights feature LED daytime running lights and make the complete front look fresh and snappy. Interestingly, the newly designed side mirrors aren't just changed up for aesthetics, but also to create a quieter cabin as you're on the go in your new Outback.

Inside, changes to the new center console and steering wheel design make for a cleaner look, while the higher trims get some additional special stitching on the doors, seats and dashboard. For technology updates, the new Outback comes with a revamped infotainment system that now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration features.

2018 Subaru Outback Performance

The key highlight to the new 2018 Outback, like a majority of our new Subaru models, is the standard symmetrical all-wheel drive. This is a feature that's usually an option on other crossovers that will cost you more, just for added capability and traction and control, but with the Outback, it comes standard. And if you expected AWD to hinder your fuel efficiency, you'll be surprised. Thanks in part to the CVT setup and the Partially Zero Emissions Vehicle (P-ZEV) designation, the Outback earns a respectable enough level of fuel economy for its class, making it an ideal choice for your daily travels, as well as all your adventures.

If you find the power lacking in its base four-cylinder setup, choose the optional 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, which boosts you up to 256 horsepower. All of that is combined with 8.7 inches of ground clearance and special electronic systems that maximize the Outback's off-roading capabilities.

2018 Subaru Outback Safety and Technology

Beyond standard AWD, Subaru models are known for their safety, and the new 2018 Outback is no exception. Of course that AWD does play a part in safety, though we mostly avoid the dangers from snowy and icy roads during winter here in the Wilkesboro and Lenoir areas. But the real key areas for safety are in the way the Outback is designed and in the available technology systems that help you avoid accidents. Design-wise, the placement of the unique Subaru Boxer engine keeps you and your passengers safe if you were to get into a head-on collision, while the overall build is design to keep everyone protected in the event of a crash.

For technology, you'll have the option for the comprehensive Subaru EyeSight suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Other tech features include the updated infotainment system that allows for smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Additional tech features include standard rearview camera, Bluetooth, touchscreen controls and auxiliary and USB ports for additional connectivity with mobile devices. Optional features found at higher trims include satellite radio, additional USB ports in the front and back, a moonroof, a power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, upgraded audio features and much more.
